WORK CULTURE
OUR WORK CULTURE
Our mission, our values and the preaching of our idols, Swami Vivekanand and Mahatma Gandhi are at the core of what literature would describe as culture, but we proudly know them as our ‘sanskar’ (संस्कार).
The mission, values, the advice of our idols and commitment of entire organization to keep those in our focus are so tightly woven in all that we do that sustaining the strong culture supporting mission comes naturally to us.
SEWA Rural as an organization has evolved into a large family where all members are respected for their contribution to the mission of the organization and service to the poor. Notwithstanding the level in the hierarchy, they are driven by passion to contribute to the mission of SEWA Rural. It is the role they play in order to make an impact and the experience they take back which creates immense pride for them in doing what they do. During survey of our work culture undertaken recently by internationally recognized independent institution 88% of the employees responded positively and opined “My work has special meaning: this is not ‘just a job”.
SEWA Rural values the supportive work culture for continued service to poor and have opted to be assessed for quality of work culture by Great Place To Work Institute (GPTW) every year since 2017. Certificate for being a great place to work is awarded after detailed scrutiny of culture and seeking responses from 100% of the employees on parameters including credibility of management, respect shown towards the employees, fairness while dealing with employees irrespective of role, level, age, caste, creed or religion, pride demonstrated by employees in their job, service the organization provides to society and the Camaraderie promoted in the organization.
SEWA Rural has been certified as Great Place To Work for All in general and one of the Best places to work for women, besides being among the top NGOs to work for.
To ensure we sustain and strengthen our संस्कार in the changing socio-economic scenario, we have built in rituals and practices.
